Training Review
VTC Training - Project 2000
Presenter: Greg Dutton
The Virtual Training Company has been providing training for a wealth of software
applications for some time and has more recently begun developing soft skills training. One of these offerings is a
relatively painless way of becoming familiar with the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK)
.
The VTC approach is to present a checklist outline of topics, with each
check list item representing a video tutorial or presentation. This format lends itself nicely to a wide variety of
Technical and Management topics, especially software applications and management disciplines. The VTC format breaks
up the video presentations and tutorials into small segments of no more than 15 minutes each, with most ranging
from three to eight minutes. The result is a nice digestible training program that can be interrupted and
resumed without a great deal of confusion.
The VTC pricing model allows for purchasing a single course on CD for $99.
Additionally, courses are available
online as streaming videos for either a monthly fee of $30 or annual fee of $250. In both cases the amount of
training that you can take is unlimited.
Microsoft’s Project 2000 is
an incredible tool for project management that helps you plan and track all of your projects. Greg
Dutton is your instructor in this Virtual Training Company tutorial. First he takes you on a tour of the basic
components. He will then help you learn everything you need to make Project 2000 work for you, including creating
and assigning tasks and resources, sharing information about your project, and tracking the various stages of your
progress.
