The Virtual Training Company has been providing training for a wealth of software applications for some time and has more recently begun developing soft skills training. One of these offerings is a relatively painless way of becoming familiar with the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) . The VTC approach is to present a checklist outline of topics, with each check list item representing a video tutorial or presentation. This format lends itself nicely to a wide variety of Technical and Management topics, especially software applications and management disciplines. The VTC format breaks up the video presentations and tutorials into small segments of no more than 15 minutes each, with most ranging from three to eight minutes. The result is a nice digestible training program that can be interrupted and resumed without a great deal of confusion. The VTC pricing model allows for purchasing a single course on CD for $99. Additionally, courses are available online as streaming videos for either a monthly fee of $30 or annual fee of $250. In both cases the amount of training that you can take is unlimited. The PMBOK modules can be purchased as a bundle for $279.95 or as separate courses for $99.95 apiece for a single user. Multiple user options are also available, as is the monthly or annual subscription. VTC gives you a chance to explore the course before committing. You can see the entire curriculum outline and even try out several of the introductory tutorials before committing to a purchase. The Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) Guide is a set of guidelines and best practices put together by the Project Management Institute (PMI). It is also the focus of the most widely recognized project management certification available: the Project Management Professional credential. This VTC course is a four part series meant to provide users with a thorough understanding of the PMBOK Guide and complete preparation for the Project Management Professional (PMP) exam and the Certified Associate of Project Management (CAPM) exam. PMBOK Part 1 will provide users with a high-level overview of the entire PMBOK Guide and will set the foundation for the rest of the series. Users will gain an understanding of the project life cycle and project phases as managed by the PMBOK Guide's project management processes. PMBOK Part 2 provides a detailed overview of the first three Knowledge Areas of the PMBOK Guide: Project Integration, Project Scope, and Project Time. Gain a thorough understanding of the processes that make up these knowledge areas, in addition to a high-level insight of how they work together. PMBOK Part 3 provides a detailed overview of the fourth through sixth Knowledge Areas of the PMBOK Guide: Project Cost, Project Quality, and Project Human Resource. Users will gain a thorough understanding of the processes that make up these knowledge areas, in addition to a high-level insight of how they work together. PMBOK Part 4 provides a detailed overview of the final three Knowledge Areas of the PMBOK Guide: Project Communication, Project Risk, and Project Procurement, as well as an overview of the PMBOK Guide. Gain a thorough understanding of the processes that make up these knowledge areas, in addition to a high-level insight of how they work together.
